Dodsworth Bridge Closure
Friday, 23 July 2010 09:55
Construction of a drainage structure to carry Duck Creek under Dodsworth Lane (CR 1316) and replace a substandard bridge will begin Monday, Aug. 2.
“When completed, this will bring a segment of roadway up to current standards and provide safer passage for motorists in Campbell County, especially for school buses that travel this route,” said Rob Hans, chief engineer for Department of Highways District 6.
Frederick & May Construction Co., of West Liberty, was awarded the low bid contract for $833,172.00.
The current bridge is too narrow for two lanes of traffic. The new structure, a buried culvert, will be 90 feet long and provide for two, 9-foot-wide lanes.
During construction, the roadway will be closed to through traffic for 60 days, beginning Aug. 2. Traffic will be detoured to use KY 8, KY 1998 (Industrial Road), US 27, KY 2925 (East Alexandria Pike).

Partnership Unveils New Business, Life, and Service Website
Friday, 18 June 2010 10:15
The partnership set out to enhance Campbell County’s previous website by providing new visually impressive and engaging page layouts, improving sources of information, and expanding the focus of the website to additional audiences, including current and prospective businesses and developers.
“We realize that with the expansion of access to the internet and other sources, the role of media in communicating to citizens and businesses has increased enormously,” Campbell County Judge/Executive Steve Pendery said. “The images created and left on the internet play a tremendous role in portraying what we have to offer. This is a good step in showing the world that we are a top-notch place to live, work, and play.”
The new website will maintain the traditional county services information. However, the partnership went beyond that to include “Doing Business” and “Living Here” sections.
The CCEPA and CCBDC funded the project with the goal of targeting current and prospective residents and businesses. CCBDC Chairman, Hank Pogue V, applauded the new website, stating “this site provides exposure, promotes our numerous assets, and facilitates new and existing business. Additionally, it highlights the quality of life that residents of our community enjoy.”
Visitors to the “Living Here” section will now be able to obtain a wealth of information on education, cultural amenities, housing, health care, and other Campbell County assets.
CCEPA President John Austin stated, “The ‘Living Here’ portion of the site provides just a preview of what the County has to offer. From our abundant riverfront, to the fastest-growing university in Kentucky, to our agriculture, wine and horse heritage, users will be able to see what we are all about.”
The “Doing Business” section highlights the County’s economic development efforts, and provides business and development resources including available incentives, featured building and site information, tax information, data, and a number of resources and support partners.
“Our focus in the ‘Doing Business’ section is to provide useful information for a variety of existing or prospective businesses and developers,” CCEPA Chairman Fred Macke, Jr. said. “Although the information is just the tip of the iceberg, it will be useful in helping them identify our business environment, available resources, incentives, and other items necessary to making an important business or development decision.”
To complete the website, the partners enlisted the help of several entities, including Northern Kentucky University’s Infrastructure Management Institute, Northlich, and Campbell County’s Information Technology Department.
The new website comes on the heels of the CCEPA’s introduction of its e-newsletter, Advance- Business & Life in Campbell County, which now has over 400 readers.
